USO of Illinois

The mission of the USO of Illinois in times of peace and war is to enhance the quality of life of the active duty men and women of the Armed Forces and their families through social, recreational, entertainment and educational programs and services. Since it’s founding in 1941, the USO has served as a private, civilian non-profit organization that receives no direct government funding, but relies solely on the generosity of individuals, foundations, corporations, organizations such as AMVETS, American Legion, VFW, Elks, United Way & CFC.

National Vietnam Veterans' Art Museum

The Vietnam Veterans' Art Museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving and displaying artwork on the subject of the Vietnam War created exclusively by Vietnam Veterans.

Special Operations Warrior Foundation

The Special Operations Warrior Foundation provides college educations for the children of our fallen special operations personnel. Today the foundation has nearly 550 children in their program – and 90 students in colleges across the country.

Strikeouts for Troops

Barry Zito, pitcher for the Oakland Athletics, will contribute $100 for every batter he strikes out during the 2005 season. Strikeouts for Troops is a program that provides funds for “comforts of home” and assists with family travel and housing expenses for U.S. Military being treated at Walter Reed Army Hospital, Bethesda Naval Hospital and other military hospitals.

The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund

The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund provides unrestricted grants to the families of military personnel who have given their lives in the current operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. The gifts, $11,000 to each spouse and an additional $5,000 to each dependent child, are intended to help these families through any immediate or long-term financial difficulties they may face. They are also intended to tell these families that our nation will never forget them in their time of need.
